Best self tanner I've used in a while! September 7, 2010 Brooke Tingley I stopped using self tanners a couple of years ago because I was tired of all the trouble you have to go through, and then usually end up with streaks or looking incredibly orange. A friend of mine recommended this after I commented on her natural looking tan. I use it 1 to 2 times a week and it really does work pretty well. The "gelee" form goes on easily and absorbs within minutes. It feels slightly greasy when I apply it to my face, but it did eventually absorb and so far no breakouts. The color is great; I wish it could be slightly more brownish, though much better than most self tanners, which can leave you looking very orange. My boyfriend said I look "bronzed". I haven't had any streaking or patches whatsoever, however I do blend it in very well, applying shortly after showering (exfoliating while in the shower), and I wash my hands thoroughly after use. I then gently pat the back of my hands against my thighs and rub my hands together a bit. I don't apply lotion to typical problem spots (knees, elbows, feet, etc.) prior to applying, however I do take a dry washcloth and rub these areas afterwards to remove some of the product. This seems to work fine. It does have a light odor, which I'm not too crazy about, that lingers for several hours after applying, but I've yet to find a self tanner that doesn't. I will continue to use this product since it's easy to use and the price is right. I would recommend giving it a shot. Good luck :)
Great tan in a tube. September 4, 2010 BCK (Bucks County, PA) I have been using this product for a few years now. I can't seem to find it in the stores anymore so I'm happy to purchase it through Amazon. If you use it as directed, you get a beautiful even tan.
Streaking Gelee May 24, 2010 Fisherman (Waurika Lake) Does not deliver the awesome results gotten from the sunless L'Oreal lotion. Some rusty spots and streaking. Won't buy again.
sublimely bronzed for a sublime price! May 13, 2010 Amy E. Micik (ROSCOE, IL, US) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
For anyone out there doubtful of this wonderful yet cheap product, lose those doubts and at least TRY IT! Take it from a girl who knows-- I have used every self tanner, from the cheapest of cheap to expensive department store brands on beyond, but this one beats them all. The whole "Sublime" line by Loreal is great, but after using the wipes, tinted lotion, etc, I stick with the gelee. Time for tips and tricks! First off, the worst thing about self tanner is the obvious streak and clumped obvious deposits on places such as elbows, knees, and ESPECIALLY with this product-- wrists and heels! Some reviews state to put on lotion on these places before acting as a barrier. Though I have tried this method (and it works well), what I have found personally best is to mix the Loreal sublime bronze gelee with lotion. Two tricks to this-- First is go with medium or medium/deep. The color is rich and brown without looking fake (I am naturally fair skinned, but am capable of a decent tan-- this product delivers as deep a tan as I want while still looking natural). Second trick is buying a lotion *WITHOUT MINERAL OIL*. If you have not read about mineral oil (often referred to as petrolatum, etc on product ingredient lists) google it; it is the most common ingredient in almost all lotions on the market-- even those that claim to be natural, when really it's derived from OIL! Therefore, it inhibits the lotion from soaking into the skin and instead coats the top layer. Though it is difficult to find a lotion that's without mineral oil and moderately priced, I have found a heaven-sent collection in Jergens Naturals. Mixing the self-tanning gelee with the lotion makes the body fool proof to any streaks while still depositing the perfect amount of color, helping achieve that "glow" without waking up the next day 10 shades darker. I mix the lotion and gelee in my palms (usually one good pump lotion, 3/4 the amount of lotion in tanner) so that when I pull my hands apart I have mixed lotion/tanner on each hand evenly- so I know I am using the same amount of each on each half of my body! Some may be hesitant to mix the lotion with, thinking it won't give as good of a tan but TRUST ME, I have been using the product for YEARS! I continue this process, rubbing in circular motion all along where I desire my tan to be. Another tip-- to avoid over-covering problem areas, after your hands have no product left on them, THIS is when I rub onto my knees, graze my elbows, tops of feet, etc-- though there is no physical product in palms it is there mixed and light, just a light grazing is all you need for the perfect distribution of color! Though the product is quick-dry, I recommend waiting at least 15 minutes until putting clothes on. You can do it as soon as you feel dry-- this has never stained my clothes, sheets, etc. However, just as a precaution, I take a little time for this to settle. Since I usually do it before bed, I am scared I will have awkward streaks from sheets or bedding if I don't let it dry long enough. I have never had a problem though. My last tip is my biggest- Wash your hands FREQUENTLY during application! I wash after everytime I moved on to a different section of the body. This tanner, as with any self tanner, can really get into the skin between fingers, wrists, etc. Rub with soap and warm water, while rubbing a towel in circular motions throughout the whole hand (especially palms) numerous times. Don't forget to scrub hard (or use a nail brush if you have it) around your cuticles, as these are especially dry areas! Lastly, spread a good coat of that natural lotion on hands, to lighten any lingering tanner and moisturize after all that washing! For the price, and the general ease (the entire process takes me about 20 minutes, from shower to finish!) of application, and quality of this gelee I give it 5 stars. Please give it a try!
i swear by this stuff April 29, 2010 Rebecca Ford Okay this stuff is cheap and it works pretty darn good. i will admit if you use it ALL the time you may get a slightly orange look, but its not as bad as some other self tanners that make you look wicked orange. anyways, this stuff is pretty easy to apply, it goes on clear, but i have never gotten any streaks, even when i do my own back. it dries pretty quickly, and then i cam dress. i have never gotten a bad tan out of this stuff, always looks good :) you just cant beat it. i remember a few summers ago i bought this and i went back to the store i bought it at and they only had lotion! NOOO! i went to every store looking for the gel! i eventually found it, thank goodness! i would have been kicking myself if i couldnt get any! this stuff is worth a try :) im pretty light skinned, and i go for the medium-deep. one time is usually good for me, then i will use it again in a week( sometimes less, depends how dark i want to be). after i posted this at amazon i noticed that it says something odd above my review, it says that my review was form their site or soemthing? i just want you to know that i posted this here at amazon.
